Smarter Science summer workshops provide a relaxed atmosphere for K-12 educators to extend their training, network with other Smarter Science teachers, share best practices, and explore additional topics related to inquiry-based education.

|Introduction to Smarter Science||Recommended for beginners who need to learn the fundamentals of the Smarter Science framework & Steps to Inquiry strategy|
|Designed for beginners, educators will learn about the 35 inquiry process skills in the Smarter Science Framework and how to use the Steps to Inquiry strategy to help students plan and implement their own investigations. Throughout the day, participants will learn how to scaffold the inquiry process from a guided inquiry to an open-ended inquiry. Many demos and ideas to stimulate your thinking!
|Assessment and Evaluation of Inquiry||Recommended for teachers that have previously attended an Introduction to Smarter Science workshop and have begun implementing our strategies in their classroom|
|Learn to assess and evaluate the 35 inquiry process skills using our newly developed education version of the Dreyfus model of skill acquisition and how to focus on the process as well as the curriculum content.
|Innovation and Creativity through Inquiry||Recommended for teachers that have previously attended an Introduction to Smarter Science workshop and have begun implementing our strategies in their classroom|
Learn to apply the Smarter Science framework and strategies to transform existing lessons or create new ones that develop inquiry skills – and cover content.
|Problem Based Learning||Recommended for teachers that are very comfortable using the Smarter Science approach in their classrooms and wish to master more advanced topics.|
|Learn to use problem-based learning (PBL) as a context for Smarter Science in your classroom. Practise the PBL strategies and skills that challenge students through problems based on real life situations.|

Refund requests must be received 7 days before the institute, either in writing or by email. Registration cancellations are subject to a $20 processing fee.
No refund will be issued for cancellations received less than 7 days before the first day of the institute. Late requests for refunds, due to a family emergency only, will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
