Today is the last day of the fair. Everyone was treated to a nice sleep-in this morning after yesterday’s exciting events. My two chaperones and I ate breakfast at our regular time and then headed out to the market to buy some homemade souvenirs that we could bring back to Canada. Today is the last day of the fair. At 10:30 am, all contestants and their chaperones met outside of the hotel and we headed, by metro, to the awards ceremony. Read more

The final two rounds of judging happened shortly after breakfast today. During the judging, all contestants were put into teams of three and given a challenge of who could build the tallest standing tower out of 2000 straws. The contest ran from 10 am to 12 pm. Members of your group would work on the tower between the times that they were being judged. The final two rounds of judging happened shortly after breakfast today. Day 3 - EUCYS 2011

The first full day of Judging at EUCYS and visiting the Heureka science centre in Finland! It’s now day three of EUCYS and the second day of judging. My two chaperones and I ate lunch at 7am again and then took the metro to the exhibition hall. Judging started at 9am and ended at lunch. After the lunch break, all contestants returned to their projects again for the third round of judging. In between getting judged, I had the opportunity to meet other people around my area from Egypt, Russia, and the Ukraine. Read more

Judging day #1 and touring Aalto University! We got off to an early start this morning in Helsinki! Breakfast opened at 7am and we were among the first people to eat. Before having to be in the exhibition hall at 10 am, we visited a market across the street. There, they sold lots of local food including MUSHROOMS and many homemade souvenirs. After the market, we headed over to the exhibition hall and grabbed seats for the opening ceremony. Read more

The first day of the 23rd European Union Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS) in Heksinki, Finland! Today we arrived in Helsinki, Finland for the 23rd European Union Contest for Young Scientists. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by a really friendly group of EUCYS volunteers who helped us carry and load our bags onto the bus. After the delegation from Luxembourg arrived, we all travelled to the exhibition hall to set up our projects. Read more
